Thom Warner: Artist's Statement
Art, to me, is an exploration—a means of deeply connecting with both the world around us and the one within. My work is a tapestry of experiences and emotions interwoven through paint. Without the guidance of formal training, my technique has emerged from countless hours of practice, driven by instinct and a fervent quest for expression. This organic evolution has imbued my art with a distinctive quality—a raw and honest reflection of my journey as an artist.
The subjects I choose are ever-changing, reflecting my personal shifts and growth. Currently, I am increasingly drawn to the diverse and intricate beauty of nature. Each scene I paint begins like a dialogue, sparked by the initial emotion it evokes in me. It's this emotional connection that captivates me and compels me to capture the essence of a moment on canvas.
Inspiration for my work can come from all aspects of life. It might emerge from the vibrant hue of a wildflower, the distant echo of a soulful melody, the gentle sway of a tree in the breeze, or a fleeting thought during a quiet afternoon. This diversity in inspiration keeps my art fresh and ever-evolving, reflecting life's myriad wonders.
Every piece I create is more than just a depiction of a scene or object; it represents a step in an ongoing journey, both personal and universal. Through my art, I invite viewers not only to see but to feel the world around them—one color, sound, motion, and thought at a time.
