Water

$310.00

Water — in my Norse series, it is not just an element but a realm, a cradle of mystery, memory, and movement. In this artwork, "Water" becomes a story told through creatures and currents, where life flows with the tides and the unseen depths whisper ancient truths.

A large seal gazes out, almost dreamlike, its expression one of gentle knowing—perhaps a Selkie, a shapeshifter from Norse and Celtic lore, hinting at the blurred line between human and beast, land and sea. Its soft, rounded form evokes a sense of nurturing, of mother ocean, while the miniature green turtle on its flipper speaks of beginnings, journeys, and the persistence of life.

To the right, a gray shark glides forward—calm yet commanding—its path flanked by vivid sea flora and golden fish. Overhead, an orca cuts through the water like a shadowed omen or guardian, embodying power and ancient knowledge. Below them, the seabed teems with life and subtle artifacts: skulls, shells, and small beings that seem to hint at cycles of death and rebirth, an echo of Rán’s net or Ægir’s feasting halls beneath the waves.

In the sky-like wash of the background floats a barely visible spirit—perhaps a water spirit or drowned soul—an ethereal reminder of water’s connection to fate and the otherworld.

This version of Water is both serene and sacred. It is the source of life, the keeper of secrets, the passage to other realms. In Norse cosmology, it echoes the primordial rivers of Élivágar, the swirling chaos that birthed creation itself. It also recalls Jörmungandr, the Midgard serpent who encircles the world, sleeping beneath the waves.

This image tells us:

“Water remembers. It nourishes, it claims, and it connects all things.”

In your Norse universe, Water is more than fluid — it is a soul in motion.
